Potterycrafts Front Loading Kilns
All our kiln designs are continually reviewed to ensure best use is made of new developments in insulation materials and controller technology. Our front loaders are built to thehighest industry standards producing robust kilns with a long working life. A full range of kiln controllers is available with the kilns. Every use is catered for including multi-ramp firings suitable for macro-crystal glazes and glass programs to simple one program controllers.
New Tube Element Kilns
The Heatworker and Ceramaster ranges now have heating elements mounted on high-tech ceramic tubes that are rated for operation up to 1500°C. Because elements are working in free air and not embedded in the kiln wall, the heat is radiated from all round the element surface making much more efficient use of power. Tubed elements last longer because the heat is dissipated more readily and not subject to overheating by being partially enclosed in the brick groove. The tube prevents elements from distorting and slumping so they are not so prone to bunching. They are much easier to inspect for damage as they arenot obscured by the groove and when they need replacing it is an easier job.
Front Loading Features
The rigid structure is achieved by using a heavier gauge of steel than other kiln manufacturers.
Paint finishes are stove heated to give maximum protection to the steel frame and panels.
Durable low thermal mass bricks are backed up by high grade insulation board to give maximum chamber temperature while keeping jackettemperatures down.
Heating elements are "balanced" i.e graded differently throughout the kiln to give even temperature distribution from top to bottom of the chamber.
Harting HAN 7 controller sockets for ease ofreplacement and flexibility.
Brick to brick precision seal, no messy fibre gaskets.
High grade Kanthal industry standard heating elements.
Rated to 1300°C (cone 10).
Type "R" thermocouples for accurate firings even at constant top temperatures.
Automatic dampers are available as an optional extra, a suitable controller is required for this feature.
Front Loading Kiln ranges
Testkiln
A bench top test kiln with elements in grooved brick in two side walls. Superb little fats fire kiln for easy test firing of clays and glazes. Available with a choice of any of our controllers.
P5900 9 litre
Genesis Kilns
A range of five 40 litre front loaders for small scale production or test purposes, including a glass kiln. Offered with a selection of controllers to suit your needs. Elements are spiral wound in traditional grooved bricks in the two side walls. Genesis A range are rated to 1150°C and operate from a domestic 13amp socket. Genesis B are rated to 1300°C (cone 10) and need to be wired to a 30amp supply.
Heatworker
Designed for school and small to medium studio use. Spiral wound elements are supported on tubes so heat from all around the element is exposed to the kiln chamber giving highly efficient use of energy. Elements fitted in the two side walls and floor. Built with a flat roof construction. Choose from our range of program controllers.
Lightmaster
Sharing the features of the Heatmaster range but with increased capacity. Designed for larger school and studio production work. The Lightmasters are built with a flat roof and spiral wound elements in grooved brick in two sides and the floor.
Ceramaster
Robust, semi-industrial front loading kilns ideal for professional studios, colleges and industrial applications where a larger capacity is required. Spiral wound elements are supported on tubes so heat from all around the element is exposed to the ki
