These kilns do not include a controller. Each customer has different requirements, and so kilns are not available to purchase online. You must call to discuss the correct controller for you, which is then added to the price of the kiln listed here. The controllers and prices can be seen under Kiln Accessories, Temperature Control.
Topworker 120 Kiln
The New Topworker 120 is one of Potterycrafts professional level Top Loading kilns made in our Stoke-on-Trent factory, with a capacity of 118 litres (4.16cu/ft) this model of kiln is ideal for domestic situations, professional studios and schools and colleges working on a small to medium scale. State of the art materials are used in the construction of these kilns; for example ultra efficient low thermal mass insulation bricks, granular insulation, backup blanket and boards, however Potterycrafts kilnsare still built using many of the older traditional skills associated with the Potteries.
The Sidewalls of these kilns are of a low thermal mass 23 Grade 76mm thick bubble insulation brick with a 25mm backup insulation giving 101mm (4") insulation, this is then enclosed within a laser profiled stainless steel outer jacket with adjustable tensioning clamps to enable the kiln to always be kept ridged throughout its lifetime. The kilns lid is also constructed of a low thermal mass 23 Grade 76mm thick extruded brick to give keep the lid as light as possible, this is backed up with 12.5mm of high grade fibre board giving a lid thickness of 88.5mm (3½") which is protected behind a powder coated steel cover plate. The floor on these kilns is 108mm (4¼") of super efficient Ultralite granular insulation normally found in industrial kilns, threesupport bricks are located in the base of the kiln to enable a shelf / batt tobe placed on top as a floor.
All Topworker kilns are fitted with Gas struts to aid lid opening, because of the large stresses placed on a lid with gas struts two 5mm thick arms suspend the lid from front to back to evenly distribute the lid weight, we have also introduced a floating hinge to enable the lid to move freely during the firing process to reduce the risk cracking due to stresses between the hot and cold faces of the lid when in use. Heavy duty A1 spiral wound graded elements are used to heat the kiln, the elements are located in grooves around the side walls of the kiln to allow uniform heat distribution throughout the chamber and additionally the elements are graded from topto bottom further aiding even temperature distribution within the kiln.
All Topworker kilns are fitted with 60mm castors two brake caster andtwo plain for greater ease of movement. This kiln is fitted with three vent holes toassist with venting / cooling of the kiln during the firing process, one in the lid and on the lower right-hand side. The kiln is fitted with a permanent vent on the top left-hand side of the kiln via a chimney that can be ducted to atmosphere if required.
Potterycrafts Topworker kilns are now fitted with a larger revised front box to increase airflow over the kilns electrical components throughout the firing process, an internal heat deflector plate to further reduce direct heat from the kiln into the electrical box has also been incorporated.
Type 'R' thermocouples fitted as standard on UK kilns. Universal voltage element specifaction 8.0kW 220v, 8.85kW 230v & 9.5kW 240v. All kilns are fitted with a Harting socket for easy controller connection. Two contactors fitted to give greater protection against possible overfires. (when used in conjunction with our range of microprocessor controllers). Lid fitted with a quick release lock and padlock provision. Lid opening / closing assistance via gas struts. Active hinge to allow lid movement during firing. Exhaustible Chimney. Kiln Controller Mounting Bracket. Ma
