This white clay is very wide firing being a true earthenware and stoneware clay.
Although designed for production throwers, the Production Throwers Earthenware / Stoneware is brilliant for beginners as it is so forgiving and with a little practice large pots are easily thrown.
A fine grog content assists the throwing and also makes it a good handbuilding clay, the fine to medium texture is easily burnished to a smooth finish.

0.32% expansion at 500øC. for earthenware fired body.
0.27% expansion at 500øC. for stoneware fired body.

This is my default throwing clay for cone 6 firing. You need to wedge it carefully as it does not like air bubbles and will punish you with blistering at the glost firing stage when you may not have identified it on the bisque. Great for celadon and chun type glazes and it takes a precise impression of my makers stamp which is intricate. With a well fitting glaze it produces a hard wearing product. I use the John Britt E3 firing cycle (fast fire with slow cooling ramp) which has improved the hardness of the glaze and taken away any pitting etc, but that may be more to do with the glaze than the clay.
