Potterycrafts Raku Crank Modelling Clay has a good thermal shock resistance which makes this the clay of choice for building pizza and tandoori ovens as well as saggers, large hand-built work and sculpture. Ideally suited to Raku Glaze firings due to the good thermal shock resistance property. It is a highly grogged clay with high plasticity producing an interesting texture, and low shrinkage which makes it highly resistant to warping.


  • Due to the large particle size some 'spit out' may be observed.
  • Temperature Range - 1060 - 1280°C.
  • % Shrinkage (w-f) - 6%.
  • % Expansion @ 500°C - 0.26%.
  • Texture (1 - Smooth to 10 - Coarse) - 6.
