Mark makes functional and sculptural ceramics, mainly in stoneware. Many of his functional designs have been influenced by contemporary Japanese pottery, and the cultural traditions relating to the tea ceremony. He finds inspiration for sculptural work in the human form, as well as ancient and pre-historic art, and is interested in exploring the power that such artefacts can exert over the imagination. Mark's studio is currently based in Congleton, Cheshire, and a small selection of his work is displayed on the Folksy website:
