Raku Kilns

The Pyramid Roderveld Kilns excel because of their simplicity and efficiency. The Roderveld range offers enormous prospects for experimenting. they can be fired with wood or propane gas, in reduction or oxidising, for RAKU, biscuit or full glaze firing, either fully loaded or for a quick firing with just one pot. The sloping door design means that the kiln will always locks the kiln tight, because of the door weight. the kiln doors can still be opened quickly and easily, or just open a crack to check on the melting of the glaze, which is very useful for RAKU firing. Moreover, because this kiln's door is on the side instead of at the top there's less risk of burnt eyelashes and eyebrows and thus SAFER. Operating the wood fired kiln provides full involvement with the firing process. Sitting quietly beside your kiln and occasionally chopping some wood while looking at the flames and the glow of the fire will teach you a lot about how your individual kiln works and relative flash and cool points within the firing chamber.
